Imagine sitting on the ancient basalt-laden shores of Lake Superior in the middle of summer, on a calm, beautiful, sunny day. Those are the details I imagined while composing this piece. I created this piece entirely from memory, visiting a few spots along the North Shore during the process to refresh mental images of what each detail looks like...rocks, water, lake bottom, lichen, clouds, and sunlight dancing in and off the water. I hope this piece transports you as much as it does me.
